CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of computer service technicians with the equivalent of 500 hours of hands-on experience. Major hardware and software vendors, distributors and resellers accept CompTIA A+ as the standard in foundation-level, vendor-neutral certification for service technicians.

A+ is a solid certification that employers look for and is the industry standard for entry-level computer technicians. Every business uses computers and skilled technicians are in demand. An A+ certification opens the door to an exciting career in computer technology at an affordable price.

Having an A+ certification proves that you have a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

The CompTIA A+ exam consists of two exams - the A+ Core Hardware exam and the A+ OS Technologies exam. Because technology changes, so do the exams. The CompTIA A+ exam will be upgraded on November 26, 2003 , but you can still study for and take the current A+ 2001 exams until then.

The CompTIA 2006 A+ certification consists of two exams:

  • CompTIA A+ Essentials 220-601 exam

and one of the three following

  • 220-602 IT Technician
  • 220-603 Remote Support Technician
  • 220-604 Depot Technician
